what is best bench press technique

What is the best bench press technique?

1. bar to touch the chest.

2. lower bar until 1 inch above the chest

3. lower until 90 degree angle.

If you're talking about just a plain bench press, the bar is supposed to touch your chest.

If you have a big chest going down to touch the chest is a small movement, usually arm is bent 90 degree. If your chest is not so big, the movement is a lot bigger and shoulder pressure is a lot more. You will need to let the elbow goes well below shoulder level to touch the chest. Big chest man touches the chest with ease (do big chest). Others peoples with smaller chest dimensions need to torture the shoulder by placing elbow below shoulder level to touch the chest.

Big chest or not --> Touch your chest!

That means bench is not standardized. Due exercise depend of length of arm and size of chest. If you have short arms and big chest you have a change lifting more weight than if arm are larger or chest smaller.

uh...it's standard. bench press touches your chest....if you wanna work your pecs and not your shoulders...don't bench press...do some dips.

Well I guess you're right in the sense that everyone is different and the mechanics of the lift will changed depending on arm length, shoulder width, thickness of chest, blah blah... So therefore some people are better benchers than others genetically. However, this BS gets way too complicated. If you touch your chest you will get the best effect as far strength gains and chest size/arm size... I would say.

This is not to say that you can't mix it up and do some board presses, dips, tri extensions, DB chest flyes, floor presses etc etc. They all have their place.

How much do you deadlift?

I'm just asking because I'm curious.

the best deadlift technique is to only lift the bar 2" off the floor.
