In your case I would say to keep doing what you're doing as long as the quality/form is there, and apply this at a point when you're healthy and able to do it safely.

Doing singles, imho, are much safer injury wise. Yes you're going for a max, but the key is that (like Eric said) you're not going for a PR. Quality over quantity, so form is very high on the pecking...
