If I have to hold my breath, lower the bar as fast as possible and slam my head and shoulders back in order to get a good bench press...I'll stick with my shitty bench pressing. :)

Lightly grab onto the edge of a desk or your rack and go down into as deep a squat as you can. That should tell you something about your lack of depth.

I'd still be doing goblets if my gym had db's that went past 130lbs. That's the only set back, you run out of resistance quickly.

Wide IS stronger. You reduce the ROM and get the glutes/hams in it more.
