Take some compound exercises and do low density sets, meaning sets of approx. 3 reps. Seems low but you can't learn movements when in a highly fatigued state, i.e. sets of 12.

Do that for a month...

I'd bet money they say it's so you can 'strengthen up' before...

My appetite disappears when I'm not in the gym. And I'm sure a lot of it is just muscles filling back up.

I eat a lot of food but it won't be a sustained 5lb/week increase.
