Default Editing Threads

What do you guys think about taking away the EDIT thread feature after a certain amount of time? I know a lot of other boards do this and it's great. Basically, after you post, you still have the option to edit something you don't like. But, after you exit out and start looking through other threads, that option doesn't exist for that specific post.

Reason being, there's been some people that like to go back in time and delete threads they started asking for help/advice for whatever reason, then pm the mods asking them to just delete the whole thread. Usually I wouldn't care, but in most cases there's still some good info further down in that thread.

Example: A Good Creatine?

Prime example right there. So when people are looking through threads trying to find what they need, they won't have to figure out what the fuck everyone's saying with posts that read, "delete".

----

Now I understand editing stickies like the injury thread or the preworkout nutrition thread, but I'll be more than happy to fill in what people want to edit/add. It's pretty easy for someone to find a new workout program and PM me with the link for the workout programs sticky so I can add it in. Pretty simple shit if you ask me.

I can make it time based, where you can edit the post up to 10 minutes after its created after that its no longer an option.

There are alot of threads which people go back and completely erase all their comments which makes the discussion hard to follow so this might be a good thing to implement.

Its a good idea, but if you do this you do realize I will look like an idiot. I always end up going back and editing posts a few times, after I spot all the stupid spelling errors an shit.

Welcome to the club hrdgain, I go back and edit all the time as well but its usually within a few minutes of making the post.

If we can get rid of people clearing our their comments after they get their questions answered (maybe they don't like looking like a newb) then I think its worth it.

Maybe even a 30 minute time limit or something, something where they have plenty of time to make changes but can't edit it days later once the discussion is over.

Okay, I have imposed a time limit of three hours from which a post in made in which a user can go back and edit. This should be plenty of time to see grammatical errors and fix/add anything to the post.

We will see how this works moving forward.

I'm sorry, but that makes no sense. Why do you need the edit function to copy the post. Just highlight over the post and copy it.

I'll help you out with that Anuj. I know how difficult it is when you create something pretty with different fonts, colors, and pictures. Just pm me with what you want and I'll send it to you via pm.

LOL, Dave, he's talking about stuff like:

[b] - bold
[color=red]

Shit like that.

Aside from the occasional cut and pasting done, it's still necessary to prevent schmucks from deleting whole threads after the fact.
