There is no significant difference if the goal is to prevent muscular catabolism during a workout. It's the BCAAs in whey that make the biggest difference...although the other AAs definitely have some kind of impact. That's my understanding anyway.

So then wouldn't taking BCAA's all day prevent muscle catabolism without having the heavy protein all the time ?

That's the way I look at it. Feed the muscles all the time. Not just during a workout. I've been doing this now for almost 1 yr and love it.

BCAA's are NOT protein. They are individual aminos. Individual aminos are not protein but are the building blocks of protein.

BCAA's are a very small proportion of muslce protein. Did you know that? You are not FEEDING the muscles by taking bcaa's. There is not way of saying that even taking them continuosly has a significant "anti-catabolic" effect. You want anti-catabolic you want either slow protein or you want continusous steady intake of ANY protein including fast.

BCAA's are NOT food.

Honestly this is beginning to sould more like stomach problems than anything else.

So if they are the building blocks of protein , why wouldn't they be better ? You don't have to digest them.

BCAAs are only three of the building blocks. :) My only point is that they have a significant anti catabolic effect during exercise. That's the only time I ever take them, and I normally just have a little whey beforehand.

Yeah..

High quality animal protein sources contain about 18 to 26 percent bcaa's anyway. For those already on a high protein diet the edition of some more bcaa is not going to make a difference in the long run. There is nothing but your belief that it will telling you to do it..there is no evidence.

Well I take them all day and will continue to do so. Works for me.

I dont treat them like food or anything and I don't count there calories , but I think the work .

Talo, I think you should take another look at your BCAA's. BCAA's are highly insulinogenic so with your low carb dieting habits it may be a bit of a wrench in the gears.

Emma-leigh did an interview with Jamie Hale over at max condition. I copied out the part about BCAA's but there's a link for the full article as well.

Been good to me for almost a year :D

Did you read the original post ? Everyone on there can be used as quality reference. Some like them , some dont , some say they're a waste of money and some say they are well worth the money.

So you can post as many interviews as you want , if the person does not like them they will find evedance to not use them and same goes for the other way around.

From where ? The way I have it figured out my 4L jug is less than 100 cals. This is taken all day , not at one time.
