Default Creatine with a heart defect?

I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, grade 1, and have been taking Propranolol 40 mg for more than five years now. From what I know, it is not a serious issue and affects quite a large number of people. I want to start exercising and have got creatine; I used it some time back for about a month, when I used to use 5 mg an hour before exercising, but I didn't take it each day, so I can't say I have loaded on it.

Now I want to load, and would like to ask if an excess amount can affect the heart condition that I have.

loading is useless. 5g a day on workout days is all you need. The supp companies just want you to run out faster and buy more...

Loading isn't really necessary as the previous poster has mentioned. 3-5 grams a day is enough. It will take you a little longer to get saturated with this smaller daily dose, but the end result is still the same. I usually don't bother with loading it.

You may want to ask a doctor, although a doctor may not be very aware of creatine supplementation. My guess is that it would not harm you. Creatine monohydrate naturally occurs in red meat so i can't imagine it having a negative effect on your heart.

Creatine works with the crebs cycle. and basically is increasing your bodys ATP which is you body's currency for energy. I doing such can restore lost engery especially with people who are older. It is safe but if you have a heart abnormality it could help you to push harder which could trigger a heart palpitation or some other heart issue. But based on all the studies 2-5 grams a day is safe and the supplement itself is also safe I would take the creatine post work out if I were you.

Off topic here, but whey is for building muscles while creatine helps in giving extra energy, right? So if you don't get enough protein in your diet and don't take whey as well, will creatine help in building muscle mass?

no all it will help with is recovery and lactic acid... but no protein= no muscle.
Whey or real food, just need protein; Whey is just ideal after workout because of absorbsion and breakdown rate.

Creatine helps strength gains and decreases recovery time so in a way, it helps in building mass by allowing you more time in the gym and more weight to lift. You don't need whey but it is good for after a workout when the anabolic window seems to exist. Otherwise, protein from food is best.

Consume creatine after workout with fast sugars, you'll need less cause your body is craving for nutrients.
