I think the issue is that long-term creatine use can damage your kidneys. Any truth behind this claim?
i believe it has been proven that even short term creatine use can lead to kidney failure and that no one should ever take this horrible horrible stuff that makes you look/feel/lift better. j/k

look at it this way, you can drink solid everyday for 50-60 years and not need a kidney trans.

is creatine that bad?

Sometimes I cycle creatine, not by choice, but because I run out. LOL. I consider it a basic supp in my diet. If I need to loose some weight quickly for some reason or another, I will stop cold to drop the excess water, but get back on as soon as I can. Then again, I have always been a responder to it.

Absolutely not. I've gone on two year runs without any problems. Remember that your body is very adaptable and resiliant. It compensates very well to things that could cause problems. Like what hrdgain81 said about people drinking for 40 years. If the body couldn't handle the stress, it would've shut down after 6 months of drinking.
*Creatine is a naturally occuring supplement that shouldn't be treated like an andro..., :(

I'm with GuardDog, the only time I am off creatine is if by some fluke I run out and wasn't paying attention. Other than that I honestly can't remember how long it's been since I've gone without creatine.
