Default Grinding up pills?

More and more I'm starting to like pills over powders. They are much more convenient to transport, and don't leave me reaching for something right afterwards to wash the taste out of my mouth. However, it can be a real pain swallowing 10 pills in one sitting, particularly when they're the big kind. Then the other day my sister was grinding up some medicine into my nephew's applesauce, and it made me wonder, is there's any disadvantage to just grinding them up and eating them with some kind of applesauce or pudding or something?

I don't think so, but wouldn't that just turn the pill to a powder?

You just said that you would rather have a pill then a powder.

So what's the difference between a crushed up pill and powder?

By "powder" I meant drink-mix type powder; you know, you put them in a mixer and shake it as spastically as you can, but it still doesn't full desove, so you start carrying a blender in your gym bag, and then you drink it and there is STILL powdery stuff left around the edges of the cup, and it never, ever, actually tastes like whatever flavor it says on the label, so you shotgun it and then reach for some mints, and all the while, you're wondering if that scoop you took from the jug actually contained the correct balance of the various components, and the whole thing just makes you want to talk without ever using a period? Those things?

I still use meal replacement shakes when I have to, but if I can avoid powder mixes, I prefer to do so.

depending on the "drink type powders" your refering to, you can use those mixed with other foods just like you would crushed up pills.

regardless of the drink powder your using, there is no magic balance of ingredients, you may have lost a little bit when it sticks to the sides of the cup, but thats just nitpicking, dont worry so much, just chug it down and hit the wieghts.

Default dangerous to crush pills?

I know I've heard this somewhere before, but isn't crushing pills into powder supposed to be dangerous? Many pills use the "time-release" approach to deliver its effects, so dumping all the ingredients at once into your body for your liver to sort out is supposed to be dangerous.

^^ I've heard that too. It all depends on what the contents of the pill are and the intended rate of delivery (ie. slow release.)

And some pills are designed so the contents don't get damaged in the stomach, and get used in the intestines.

I do it sometimes with creatine pills when I don't want to wait for them to digest in my stomach...doesn't seem to be less affective
