Hey cake go for it, But do yourself a favor STAY AWAY FROM GNC most of the people who work there know nothing, and just wanto try and make a little comision. You should be able to find a good 5lb whey protien for about 26-30 bucks

I started lifting at 13-14 for about a year. then started up again from 17-21 then a loooong break before starting again. Anyway starting at 13 had no bearing on my hieght I'm 6'1"

Good Luck with your lifting

To add to the fact you can start training young and NOT stunt growth...I started training when i was in Middle School, which was like 12 years old. Of coarse i didnt know much or take any supplements or have a good diet, but i just did what my mom did from what her trainer showed her. So i guess being 6 foot tall that I somehow stunted my growth

^^^^Agree with everyone.

You're fine. Try to educate yourself and maybe get some good supervision (which can be difficult). Ask question on the forum about anything you are in doubt about, including exercise teqnigue. Have fun, and good luck. Probably the biggest danger is to ineffective type stuff and waste a lot of your time (that's probably what happened to most of us who started young ) so get as much good advice as you can.

Since you are just beginning, you don't need to do a lot of maximal work to gain a lot of strength, at least for a while. So you can take your time and use higher reps until you have everything down and build some strength.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Wow thanks for all the responses guys, i didnt mean to stir up any sort of controversy. I actually have been reading up around these forums to learn stuff as im going to football camp in about a month. I took your advice and bought some "Isolate Whey Protien" it has 50 grams of protien and some other vitamins in 2 scoops. For my age and my weight (138 lbs) is that too much to ingest at once? Also i was thinking about trying X-tend for pre-workout, ive heard its good. Im still cautious about my age and using X-tend though so opinions on that would be great too. Thanks for all the advice.

Bah, couldnt find an edit button so ill just make a new post. My dad said not to take creatine because at my age my body produces enough and doesnt need the help of extra supplementing, is that right? Also do i need BCAA's at my age or does my body produce enough of that too?

At your age you would do fine w/ the whey and a multi-vit.

Ok, so sticking to just whey, its 50 grams of protien in 2 scoops. For me isnt that a bit much to injest at one time ( post workout)?

Well you know there isn't a supplement law that says you have to take an entire recommended serving. But seriously I used to ingest that much growing up just in eggs or fried chicken.

BCAA's are essential amino acids. Which means your body cannot produce them. But you will get PLENTY from the whey and from all the other common protein foods you eat. Creatine you could take but I agree for now just stick with the whey.

You can use the why for pre-workout. X-tend wouldn't hurt you but you could just use whey the whey for preworkout.

It's ok. 25 grams may be a little much for pre but it's workable. Some high GI carbs would be nice too. But if not try to get some other carbs around an hour before. Why don't you read through the pre/post nutritions sticky and then give us a holler?
