Default Amino 2222 tabs

Hey guys. I wanted to get some feedback on the aminos I just bought. The brand is ON and they're called Superior Amino 2222 Tabs. Serving size is 1 tab which is 2 grams. 325 pills in container. Until this purchase i've been strictly creatine, NO, and protein powder. Everyone has been telling me to work aminos into my supps. So i've been taking 3 of those pills in the morning and 3 right before my workout when i take the creatine. That gives me about 12 grams per day of aminos plus the protein powder post workout. Not to mention whatever aminos I get from my diet which is pretty clean. Does anyone have any other suggestions or feedback on this product? Thanks in advance!

Eric posted something about this somewhere at sometime...can't remember. In short, if you look at the ingredients then you'll find that the aminos are coming from caseinate (aka casein) which is just protein. In which case you're taking "protein pills" and not free form amino acids. In which case you're wasting your money... That's what I got from his post anyway.

I looked at ingredients and there's no caseinate in them. From my understanding whey protein only contains a few AA's. Well, my whey only have like 3 in it. These pills contain the following AA's:

Tryptophan 60 mgs (milligrams)
valine 130 mgs
Threonine 140 mgs
Isoleucine 120 mgs
Leucine 210 mgs
lysine 170 mgs
Phenylalanine 80 mgs
methionine 30 mgs
arginine 90 mgs
cystine 10 mgs
tyrosine 60 mgs
histidine 40 mgs
proline 140 mgs
Glutamine 370 mgs
Ornithine 8 mgs
Aspartic acid 240 mgs
serine 130 mgs
glycine 80 mgs
carnitine 30 mgs

This is what my reference was:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/amino.html
If you look under protein, it says (from Caseinate and Gelatin). Just realized they are the softgels and you got the tabs.

Your aminos...
http://www.optimumnutrition.com/prod...ets-p-243.html
"Our Superior Amino 2222 Tabs provide a full spectrum 2,222 mg array of essential, conditionally essential, and non-essential amino acids derived from a blend of isolated, concentrated, and hydrolyzed protein sources"

Ingredients (among others): WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE (by volume, the #1 ingredient), SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE (by volume, the #2 ingredient), etc... I'm sure you get the idea.

And your understanding of whey is wrong. Whey is a complete protein. It contains more than three amino acids. I'm sure you get more amino acids in a half scoop of whey than you get with the Amino 2222.........................

Ross is right. You have to look at the ingredient list. They are trying to fool you by listing out the average amino yield..all of which come from the protein powder that they simply stuck in a pill.

If you are going to buy amino acids in pill form, which I think is a waste of money (bulk powder would be better anyway) you need to look for the words "free form". And maybe "peptide bonded". You will see a list of aminos and the amounts (and it will probably be very accurate amounst compared to the ESTIMATES you are getting on these other products. Then after that listing you should pretty much only see "Other Ingredients". Even then you have to be careful becasue another stategy is to list the protein Source at the top of the list and then the aminos yielded from that. So you might see something like Lactalbumin Hydrolysate, for instance, a protein fraction, which is just a fancier version of the same thing from above.

Let me be clear here. When people buy "amino acid" supplements it is my understanding that they BELIEVE they are getting free form crystalline amino acids. Anybody disagree with me here? In other words not bound to other aminos. Maybe sometime "peptide bonded" proteins because some believed they are absorbed quicker or whatever. But people do not think they are just getting some whole proteins that have been microfilterd and perhaps "predigested" to be broken down into smaller clumps, but really you are getting aminos bound to others, etc. Because if you are paying these kind of prices for that then your REALLY should just get a microfilterd whey or something or a hydrosolate, etc...in bulk powder.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

My suggestion would be to finish what you have and then next time just get some good whey protein powder. Then if you are interested in aminos get a targeted amino product in bulk powder form. This would be a product that had certain aminos (prob essential) in huge doses, such as bcaa's, cirtulline malate (the citrulline is the amino), maybe beta alanine, taurine....

Others do this so you should be able to get plenty of ideas and opinions. And there are many such products or you can do you own bulk mixes or by each thing separately to put together.
