When I was living in dorm I purchased a grill and cooked in my room to get the extra calories in. There is always a solution.

Just living in the dorm with no car, small fridge, and budget. But I'm going on a supermarket run tomorrow to see what I can do. I'm sure I can make it work. The grill is not a bad idea though, might pick one up tomorrow, thanks.

Also with the fish oil, how many capsules or mg should I be taking a day, and when. Any specific type of fish oil I should look for?

Because they come in different purities, it depends. 300mg of the Omega 3's is standard (EPA & DHA). I take 3 twice daily, morning & evening. As to what type...whatever is cheapest IMO.

Honestly, any brand will do. Oh did I mention stay away from GNC it'll make you more broke... They work on commission and will sell you anything especially the Muscle Tech stuff. Good luck with your goals.

A few things that may help bring your calories up are Milk , Natural Peanut Butter , Oil (Virgin Olive ) and Nuts. These are not very expensive.

Drew go to walmart for your whey, creatine, and fish oil. They are actually running a special on fish oil right now. I got a 100 capsule bottle (1000 mg) for 5.99. I take 3 daily, 1 with each meal.

Also, for your dorm, peanut butter and wheat bread is cheap and easy.

I do not have much to add as there has been a lot of good advice already put out there for you. What I will say is do not let yourself get down, you have set goals for yourself so don't lose sight of what you want and plan on how to get there. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the advice everyone. First day of the 5x5 went well, and I'm already feeling sore. You all definitely opened my eyes to the wonders of Walmart. I think I got the same fish oil that you mentioned, gsxrclub80.

And I picked up some Super Advanced Whey Protein by Body Fortress for about $11, so no more GNC for me. I was going to pick up some creatine as well, but this whey protein contains 9g/scoop of this thing called "Super Recovery Blend", which contains creatine monohydrate, taurine, L-glutamine , leucine, isoleucine, and valine. It doesn't say exactly how much of each ingredient is in it, but I didn't want to risk adding more creatine.

And the food situation is looking brighter now that I have this George Foreman grill.

Again, you guys have been really helpful. Thanks.
