Default NEW TO CREATINE. Some questions!

Well it turns out I finally went back to GNC, returned what they gave me, got a full cash refund and purchased GNC Pro Performance Creatine Monohydrate.
It's my first time using creatine so I have a few questions for you frequent users.

First, when do I take creatine?
How much grams a day do I take creatine first starting?

Additonal information:
16 y/o male
142 lbs.
15% BF (estimated with online calc)
currently trying to cut to show abs and still maintain good muscle mass.

Thanks for all your help!

~Tim

When I get excited I just pu... nevermind creatine 15-30 minutes before you work out. Just drink a lot of water throughout the day to keep hydrated and a lot of potassium.

Make sure that your taking it with dextrose/maltodextrin or your just going to be wasting it.

IMO there really is no reason he shouldn't be using it, but I'm interested to hear your opinion Dave.

Immediately before your workout is not the best time to take creatine.

First, large shifts in body fluid during exercise should be avoided at all cost. They could severely compromise exercise performance and even prove hazardous.

Also, creatine needn't be "fresh" to work. Once the muscle stores are full(loading phase), creatine is stable until degraded. Therefore, the stores don't need to be replenished immediately before exercising.

Dont take it during your workout, taking creatine during your workout could hampers exercise performance. This is due to the effect of dehydration on exercise performance.

Also dont do the pre and post becauase supplementing both before and after exercise may be counterproductive because of the inhibition of creatine transporter activity that may still persist from the previous feeding.

So saying this the best time to take IMO is in the morning and than post work out because your body is most receptive to insulin, and you should be getting an insulin spike PWO so that would shuttle the creatine better
