Default ChinPiece's Pure Virtago Tester Log

To start off I will give a little info about myself, training, diet and other supplements I will be taking with Pure Virtago.

I'm roughly 5'11.5" and I weigh in at 217lbs. with about 15% body fat.
I will be doing HST for Cutting which can be found in my sig. or here. I will also be training in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) on most of the off day along with other cardio in hopes to gain more endurance to compete soon. My Diet will start out at about 3100 cals. and be lowered as soon as I don't lose at least 1-1.5lbs. a week. It can also be found in my workout journal.

Supplements that I will be taking are ON Whey, Dextrose, Purple Wraath, and MHP's Probolic SR which has calcium caseinate. Then soon I'm going to go to True Protein and get some night time pro.

When I take Pure Virtago it will be with ON's Whey and a little bit of Dextrose, and it will be after lifting and MMA. It will NOT be taken after Cardio since I only have a little bit.

Ok the first workout day I didn't take the Pure Virtago because I left it at home and on Mondays I workout in the Morning.

But, today I took it during MMA. Here's the break down.

On Tuesdays I do Muay Thai for about 1 hour then after that I have 2 hours of grappling, 1 hr of No-Gi and 1 hour of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
After Muay Thai I sip on a full serving of Pure Virtago throughout the 2 hours along with 2 scoops of ON Whey and 2 tbsp of Dex, this might change since this is my first time taking it and I might want to see if more or less would benefit me. I don't like to chug it down because having that much in my stomach will just come up as soon as I get slammed.

Normally I drink a weight gainer called IDS's Smart Gain. I would normally do the same thing with the weight gainer as with the Pure Virtago and drink it throughout the grappling classes.

My First impressions of my new mix.
I mixed the Pure Virtago by itself in one shaker and the Whey and Dex in another shaker.

Taste:I love the taste. It wasn't clumpy and I would take a sip and put more water in it because it was a little thick in the beginning.

After the first grappling class I realized that I had a little more energy than last week. So I was def. pumped about this, which is why I'm wondering if more would be better, but that will be for next week.

Side Effects: The one side effect that I realized I had that I didn't have from my norm is I was Gassy as Hell. I mean I farted every time I got thrown or swepped. Then when I got home I sat on the can and farted for about a minute and it was all gas. We will have to see if this is an ongoing issue.

Overall I like it so far. Let's see what happened on a lifting day.

I would recommend leaving out the Dex and see how that goes.

I could be completely wrong, but wouldnt you want low GI carbs before prolonged endurance type training? so you will have sustaned energy levels throughout?

seems to me you would bottom out at some point using pv like that ... just my observation.

Well if you think about it this type of training is fairly anaerobic in nature. You get bursts of high intensity activity. If Dave is going for an hour and then beginning to sip on his shakes then that should work just as well for this type of training if not better. I would think it depends on the individual as well.

you are both right.
Hrdgain, you are right but that situation is if you are going to drink it all at once.

Eric is thinking right on the money. Once I start sipping I go through rounds where the instructor will teach and then we apply at a pace that keeps increasing. Then break for more instructions. At the end of every class we spar in 5 min rounds with 30-60 seconds break in-between and that's where the sipping really comes into play.

Ok, I got a chance to take it after working out and all was going good till I realized that I had some BIG chunks at the bottom of my shaker. So I filled it up completely with water again, 24 oz., and figured it needed time to sit out so I shook it for 30 secs. and waited about 3 minutes. Shook it up some more and downed it. Still lumps I just go tired and grabbed a fork and ate what was left. Not bad, tasted like a Gummy Jolly Rancher. I think it has to stay out some to dissolve. I didn't have a problem with it in MMA because I made it 1 hour before I got a chance to drink it. So far I feel good and I don't feel that sore from lifting so I think it's working.

Default MMA training day

Today was a HELL of a training day. We had to do hard core rounds as part of our new training for competition.

This consisted of one guy who is "it" and he has to grapple a new guy every 30 seconds with no break. We had about 8 guys in class so that was 7 rounds with a fresh guy every 30 seconds. I took some Pure Virtago before I was up and I was doing good for my first time trying this. After I was "it" I thought I was going to puke and was dead tired. So I drank about 12 oz of water and downed some P.V. By the time it was close to the end of class one of the other guys couldn't finish his last 2 rounds and so I volunteered. I was very refreshed and didn't feel that bad at all. I continued to sip the P.V. for the rest of the classes and by the time sparing came up for No-Gi, which is about 75 minutes later, I was right a rain.

BUT.

I keep having to add water to the P.V. because it was still a little chunky. When I make the P.V. there is nothing else in the shaker except water and I put in 24 oz. of water. Does anybody else have this problem or should I shake it longer, what??
