Default Running out of protein powder.

Hi,

I'm starting to run out of protein powder and was looking for recommendations. Is there really any difference between the well known name brands? I'm currently using GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein and GNC Pro Performance Wheybolic Extreme 60. I've seen some name brand protein for a little less on some online stores and some for more but I have no idea if any are better than what I'm currently using. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Riley

Whey isolate is the best. If you're going to be buying it at GNC, then buy the Whey Isolate 28...it's on sale for 24.99 (2lbs). Otherwise buy some online. If you bought the wheybolic, then you wasted your money IMO. It's over priced. Check trueprotein.com and nutraplanet.com. I use ON's gold standard. And I use their casein at night when I don't feel like eating a lot of cottage cheese.

Read through the supplement forum...there are at least 2-3 recent posts that discussed this in depth.

I would stick to a fairly well know brand if we are talking Walmart brands. GNC and ON whey are both fine but there's plenty of others that are good too. Whey protein isolate is better but usually more expensive. I like Dynamitize but they failed some labels claims last year and didn't really resolve the issue so alot of people don't think highly of them.

Proteinfactory.com or bulknutrition.com both have good prices and good variety.

If you live east of the Mississippi, I'll go with that.

I've been a long time customer of trueprotein, and don't go anywhere else.

The walmart brand is ok. It's on par with GNC's 100% whey. ON makes GNC's protein. It's just an inferior blend with mostly whey concentrates whereas ON's is mostly isolates.

At Large Nutrition looks okay. I'm not at all a fan of blends though...some people like them. Their protein is whey/casein/egg. After my workout, I want whey (preferably isolate) and nothing else, because the casein and egg aren't going to do anything for me during that anabolic window. Then I eat a PWO meal. So that negates the need for any kind of slower releasing proteins. And the casein doesn't raise blood amino acid levels very much. It staves off catabolism, but isn't great for growth. I only take casein at night before I go to bed because 99 times out of 100 I don't want to wake up and eat something in the middle of the night.

I have started using trueprotein and have gotten good service. I will probably stick with them for the long haul.
