Of course it didn't work for you!! That's not how you take creatine in the first place. For creatine to even work, it needs to be transported to your muscles. Bet you never did a loading phase either...
For creatine to be utilized, it is best to take it with:
1. Dextrose
2. Maltodextrin (carbs)
3. Alpha lipoic acid helps
If you don't have a weightgainer, I'd suggest mixing it with a large glass of grape juice. It has plenty of dextrose to help transport. I drink 5 grams with Optimum Nutrition's Glycoload (it has 50% dextrose, 50% malto) preworkout. After I workout, I mix 5 grams in with my weightgainer shake N-Large-2. (80 grams of carbs)
Go buy some more ($11) and try out taking 5 grams preworkout in a large cup of grape juice as well as another 5 grams postworkout. During your loading phase, take 5 grams 4 times a day for 5 or so days.
