Default Time capsules take to dissolve in stomach?

How long do capsules take to dissolve in the stomach? I mean the empty kind that you fill with whatever you want, that you buy from health-food-type stores. I have a little plan...I'll keep you informed... ;)

If your talking about empty gelatin caps, they dissolve at a pretty rapid rate. Most of the manufacturers say under 5 minutes, with the average being 2-3 minutes.

You can easily test it by dropping some into a liquid at home.

Crap...I had plans for making casein pills, for a super-delayed effect. Idea was to take some casein before bedtime, with some fats, then pop the capsules, along with some fish-oil capsules. Well, I tried.

LOL, even if the pills took say an hour to dissolve...do you know how many you would have to take to get enough protein?

"Enough protein" That's funny. I'm not trying to get 'enough protein' from powders. Real food fits the bill quite nicely. That's why they're called supplements. You know, there's a saying, the only dumb question, is the one that doesn't get asked. Bodybuilding, like life itself, is an evolving, learning process. If we didn't try new processes, either would stall. Just trying to bridge the fasting gap between last meal and breakfast here.

That would definitely not be worth the trouble.

Just eat some protein (chicken, etc) in your last meal before you go to bed and you'll be just fine. It isn't like all your muscle will waste away while you are asleep.

I do. And I have some cottage cheese before bedtime, along with some good fats.

If I may, I don't think that Scorcher was talking about getting enough protein from powders but rather how many pills would you have to take for it to be enough to be worthwhile?

People are acting like casein and things like it are magic bullets so that just taking a few capsules worth could possible make a difference. And it CANNOT possibly make a difference in the long run.

You say that you think of the powder as supplements but it is clear from the question that you also thing of them as extra powerful. Nobody would eat a bit of chicken before bedtime and think that this would make a difference in their diet yet people will pop a few protein pills. Yes, you can buy casein in a capsule labeled "aminos".

This whole eating before bed has gotten way blown out of proportion anyway. And especially casein and whey and casein versus whey and all that nonsense.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
