question about gaining size
I just finished my last high school swim season and I'm serious about lifting now that it wont effect my sports in a negative way. I'm 6' tall, 185 lbs. I'm in the 2nd week of the Total Body Plan by Chad Waterbury that anuj posted in his training journal. so far its been great, and I'm already seeing strength improvements especially in my squat and deadlift. I'm also trying to eat a minimum of 4 meals a day, with a main focus on intaking more protein. Also running on track so I'm getting a great cardio workout every day.
my question is, will sticking with this plan and diet help to increase my size? thats my main goal right now, to gain more mass (perhaps 10-15 lbs by September). If not, what else do I need to be doing or what more information would you need to know if I'm doing the right thing?
Thanks

If your overall goal is to put on lean mass then I would scale back your cardio. running everyday will undoubtedly keep you from gaining size. i would switch it to every other day, and keep it to a maximum of 20 min. or if you know that you have a very fast metabolism to begin with, you may want to drop it all together.
I would also start keeping a foods journal. do this for a week or so, then see just how many calories your getting per day, and from what sources. I would bet you arent coming close to how much food you need to grow.

You gotta eat like theres no tomorrow if you wanna gain muscle. For me the magic number is 4500 calories day. 450g protein. 6-8 600cal meals every 2 hours. You will feel stuffed all the time. If youre hungry, youre not eating enuff. Its gotta be clean too. Not a bunch of fast food and pizza. Lots of lean red meat, chicken, fish, natty peanut butter, dairy, whole grain breads, rice, pasta, oatmeal, etc...
Oh and a few eggs every morning doesnt hurt.

As a comedian you have to start a show strong and end the show strong. Those are the two key elements. You can't be like pancakes, all exciting at first but at the end you're f*cking sick of them!

Lean red meat is very good for you. It has iron and alot of other nutrients that other meats dont have. Also, ever heard of creatine. It occurs naturally in red meat. Its the fatty cuts of red meat that pple should stay away from. Venison is a great example. All the benefits of red meat, as lean as chicken. I eat a lot of it.
