Default 4 day mass bulding workout routine?

I'm currently running Rippetoe's 3X5 program and seeing results. My lifts are going higher and so is my strength. Overall, i'm satisfied.

However, I have an exam in 7 weeks time and I'm just about managing to fit my workout into my routine along with work and studies. I'd like to alter my workout routine in such a way that I can get more than 2 off days in a week so I can buy some time to study till the end of January '09.

Currently, I lift weights for 3 days and do cardio for 2 days.

Can anyone suggest something?

My suggestion is to cut out a day of cardio.

Or put your cardio right after your weights. It's not ideal but it will save some time and keep the other days completely free.

Also, hopefully you are talking about January 2010. Otherwise, this is a moot point. lol

i do about 1 minute of biking (hard) between my sets, which adds up to about 25 minutes of cardio throughout my workout

You're really taking away from your lifting this way. Your body cannot recover between sets like it should if you're doing intense cardio.

I'm not saying it's wrong but it certainly isn't optimal for muscle or strength building.

hmm, well doing this vs doing without i'm still doing the same weight and reps, and it seems as if i'm loosing my gut quicker now too from keeping my heart rate up.

i'll just concider this routine my "cut" routine
