Default anyone care to lend a hand

Well i'm new here, i think i'm posting this thread in the right spot. anyway, i just have a simple question or too.

i'm trying to gain weight, what a surprise huh. anyway, i weigh a solid 150lbs right now, and im cut. (my avatar is a picture of me) i want to be at around 160-165.. im following a pretty simple theory, eat big lift big get big. haha yeah so its not really doing much for me.. i'm just getting stronger. a month ago i was flat benching 185, the other day i hit 215.

so i'm getting stronger, feeling better, eating more, but not getting any bigger. help?

thanks.

eating more
I assume since you are cut that you'd want to preserve that. Well, that's probably your problem. By eating more, you should be left feeling uncomfortably full throughout the day. Eating things like brown rice, egg whites, ect. should not be on that list. By eating a lot of the right things, you'll gain some fat to accompany the increased muscle. You seem to me like your metabolism is pretty fast, so the fat loss shouldn't be very hard to do in the end.

What's your daily intake look like? Include pre/post workout meals and nutrition.

i pretty much eat as much as i can.. the typical day lately looks something like this....

breakfast = 1 scoop whey and milk, banana, cream of wheat, megamen multivitamins

during school i cant really fit another meal in before lunch, i just drink a bunch of water.

lunch = 2 sandwiches, turkey or tuna, something like that with lettuce on whole wheat, yogurt, nutrigrains, maybe some peanuts, banana, orange, with a bunch of water..

again, no time for meals during class.. just water

i'm at the gym after school every day, so right when i get home i usually consume a shake in the blender with like 3 scoops of whey, milk, and a banana.

for dinner ill either have as much pasta with meat i can take.. like a half pound or so, or chicken and vegetables stir fry junk, or some type of fish depending on how much money i have on any given day to go pick it up from the market.. i'll usually have a salad and water with it

about an hour or so after dinner i have another scoop of whey

and before i go to bed i take some ZMA and fish oil pills, eat some cottage cheese (casein protein yay) and some cream of wheat.. and water haha

i actually think i may be losing weight.. a few days ago i weighed in at the gym at an even 150 and today i was like 148.5 or something.. :/

I'll help you...

Quote:

This is something I'd eat if on a very serious cutting diet. Either that, or if I'm 70 years old. Eat your age, esp. when trying to gain muscle...Try 5 whole eggs, pancakes, and a banana.

By turkey sandwich I take it you mean a few slices of thinly sliced turkey? You probably got about 5 grams of protein off of that.

Eat your bananas and nutrigain bars during this time! Your time in between classes are reserved for serious foods.

You should rethink that shake to include some high GI carbs. At the least try drinking a big glass of grape juice for the high amount of dextrose. Also look in your grocery store for a $2 bag of dextrose powder. You need sugar postworkout (in lemens terms)

This is just the basics that I see. You are severly limited in your carb intake, which will make or break your gains [or apparent lack thereof].

thanks a lot man, this new plan is starting tomorrow at 6am... i'll let you know how it works out haha

i wish i found this forum a while back, i had myself banned from a sport martial arts forum and i was asking bodybuilding questions and getting retarded answers.. i suppose its my fault for being in the wrong place, but the guys that run the site are bodybuilders? anyway random i know... www.trickstutorials.com and watch a video.. youll just get a "wtf" reaction.

this post is going nowhere.

main points:

trying new plan tomorrow.
tricking and sport martial arts sites are good only to a certain extent.
being a martial artist and a bodybuilder is a tough act these days. haha

We got a couple of martial artists here. I'm sure they'll chime in.

By the way, if you have time, have that whey shake first thing when you get up. Then have the breakfast like 0311 described.

If that's too much then just stick to the breakfast.

And welcome to the site!

jappo, i feel your pain on the cross training bro. What style(s) do you study, and how often are you in the dojo (dojang)? As much as i hate to say it, if you are training excessively that will keep you from putting on muscle mass. Listen to what 0311 has told you, and check out 'clean bulking 101' its a great how to eat clean.

you have a great base, and the metabolism I would kill for. soak in as much as you can here and get growing. And keep the questions coming, we are all here to help
