Default Cardio question

I finally fixed my tredmil, and I now have the means to do cardio at the ass crack of dawn every morning. Here is my cardio plan, let me know what you think.

Lifting days (m,w,f)
7am 15-20 min walk (usually .5 miles or so)
6pm lift

non lifting days (t,Tr,sat)
7am 15-20 min walk (usually .5 miles or so)
6pm 30-45 min martial arts (kata, shadow boxing, weapons training, ect)

I will gradually up the intensity of my martial arts training, and perhaps inrease the time on the morning walk.

well you can only guess how I feel about this.
I def. know that kata, shadow boxing and weapons training will bring a nice mix up in an otherwise dull cardio routine..

What weapons are you training with?

sai, tonfa, kama, escrima sticks right now. nothing real fancy just running through basics and katas with them. When the weather gets warmer again i'll be able to use the booutside. I've never been a huge kobudo person, but i'm trying to turn my weaknesses into strengths, so this is just another step in that direction.

For my empty hand kata, i usually start out with some goju katas to warm up with because they tend to be slower, deeper stances, better for getting streched and going. then switch over to isshinryu for some more speed/intensity oriented kata. It works out pretty well.

took Goju for about 4 years... so I def. know what your talking about. Sanshin is great for the early moring wakeup IMO. I should realy start kata's again, haven't done a kata in about a year.

I trained in goju from 10yo to about 15, then the school closed. I have trouble remembering some of the katas, but a few overlap with isshinryu katas. I have to look them up every once in a while.

isshinryu is a different story, with only 8 empty hand katas, i must have done each 5 or 6 thousand times. I do them in my sleep sometimes, its scary.

I didnt realize you were a goju ka, thats awesome, perhaps you can help me with some of my memory gaps.

My cardio is pretty much just running like hell. I am the bite bitch for our K9 guys, putting on a 130 lb suite and running puts a pretty good sweat on ya.;)

As for cardio, I usually hop on the treadmill for 30 mins running a little more than 3 miles. And I do that almost everyday. I know its excessive and probably not needed, but just trying to cut up a little more before I head back to the states on leave.
