Default Bad squats

Ive not been doing squats long (ok thats a lie) ive really only just started doing them. Is it normal to feel abit of lower back pain after squating or could it be that im doing them wrong?

if your lower back is not used to being loaded...that could be it.

is it pain...or is it just sore?

but i think the first place you should start is to check your posture. to make sure it's not that...

check out:

www.ericcressey.com

and

www.robertsontrainingsystems.com

look under their articles sections...and look for any articles with "neanderthal" in the title. and read them....alot...

fixing posture first can help many problems in the long run.

Not to be a total jerk but there is not way you could have gone through all of that info and accessed your posture in the time it took you to post, Matt.

How deep are you going? Does the lower spine drift under the hips at the bottom. That is after a certain point is the lower back flexing? If so, and if you are flexion sensitive, especially with load, that could produce pain. Of course no one should be allowing that to happen whether flexion sensitive or not.

Or of course it could just be DOMS in the erectors. However if you continue to feel the results of your squats predominantly in the lower back after you've been doing them a while, then that is not right.

A vid of you squatting would be a good idea.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

No i checked out Eric Cressey's article on debunking exercise myths part 1 where he talks about squating.(As a quick check). I replied to pitty just so that he didnt think i was ignoring him. I will now spend the next few days reading all his articles.
