Default Calves and Forarms

Should these be trained the same? ie: I do heavy but lots of reps for calves.
If the forarm compareble to the calve ?

I know a lot of people that don't even train these.

Calvs I hit if its in the perticular program I'm doing. But to be honest, if your squating heavy, benching heavy, and deadlifting heavy those guys are gettin enough work. No need to isolate them IMO.

I agree with hardgain...another point I think is important is that this would only apply if you don't use wrist straps for your heavy pulling exercises. If you're using straps then your eliminating the grip strength component and your forearms are pretty much out of the equation.

Good point about the straps. Personally, I still do wrist curls once a week and I have found that helping with my grip. Since I am stretching out the fingers and holding up top

The only time you should be using straps is when your grip is too fatiqued to keep a safe grip. So I'll throw them on once my hands go numb.

just a little curious, would gloves be considered straps? or are they just gloves and really don't make a difference except to prevent callusing on the hands?

Gloves don't help your grip strength IMO, they're more or less there to increase the friction between your hands and the bar, help with keeping your wrists straight (if you have the gloves with the wrist wrap) or to protect your hands. Another point too is that when your using gloves you're closing your hand around a larger object, so your grip will not be as strong.

So, no, Gloves wouldn't be considered straps IMO.
