Default can i mix calesthinics with my lifting ?

right now i lift about 3 times a week, working every muscle once a week. i want to start doing some extra calisthenics (basically just push ups and pull ups), but i'm wondering how it will effect my workout. i've done an extra push up workout before, but i would time it not to interfere with my chest workout (i would do chest on mondays, and do the push up workout on thursdays). any advice on calisthenics and mixing it with your regular workout, and what effect it will have on your results?

pull ups (or chin ups which i prefer) should be part of your weight training routine anyway.

you didnt state your goals at all so it'll be really hard for anyone to give you any decent advice. are you looking for max size, max strength, just looking to get in better shape, want to lose some flab, all/none etc etc?????

I do push-ups at wake up and lights out and pull-ups at wake up and sit-ups at both every day. Part of my military bacground that I cant give up. Should not hurt. But to improve them is to do it slow, really, old Marine Corp idea still in today to up your numbers is to add one per day. Day one due one, day two due two and so on till you can do 400 without stopping.

I don't see why the pullup/pushups would affect your workout as long as you give preference to your lifting. If you want to continue doing them just make hit your regular routine first and then perform these or do them during a different time of the day like Supermad. For example, you of course wouldn't want to do pushups before your regular chest workout.

It all depends on what your overall goals are and what your routine looks like. Doing an extra set of pullups a couple hours before you do them in the gym wont affect you much, if at all. For example, we have a pullup bar in our smoke pit. Sometimes when i go out ill sometimes pump a couple pullups out, while smoking ;-) Doesnt affect my back workout later that day. But why do you only work each body part once a week? Unless you are just doing maintenance work (which i have a feeling you arent since you are trying to add more stuff in), you should be doing each body part more than once a week. About 2 or 3 times...

The method I metioned is called the Marine Corp Push-Up Challange. And I am no longer in the military, but live with the disipline that was instilled by the corp.
