Well people generally use SS when they are beginners (duh). You usually don't make alot of huge mass gains as a beginner because, honestly, your CNS is so shitty at making your body move weights that all (or at least most) of the gains you'll make on this program will be your body coming up to speed on *how* to lift. They call this "newbie gains" alot of the time.

Also, SS is used to learn how to do the lifts properly. You start with light weight and you (are supposed to anyways) learn the correct form to use to lift the weights properly. Even if a newb wants only to "gain size" I would still reccomend SS. Its a great building block for almost anyone that wants to lift weights wether it be for strength or size. You must understand going into it though that you cannot do this program forever and it will not give you good gains forever as it becomes overtraining after a while.

If these things are understood before moving into the program then I think you are ready to take your body to new places.

Thats my speech for the day. lol

It's funny...the function of a stabilizer in a movement is to "resist" movement. No doubt, this trainer would come up with a plan to "isolate" the stabilizers and have you "strengthen" them with...movement.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Yeah, I'll see what she says..

Like I say, I don't really think she knows what the starting strength" system really is..

I'll listen to her take on it, and do SS anyways.. (book on route)

I'm really only going to using her for the lifting form feedback (wish I had someone in town, for that)..

Yes I do..

But again, I'd need a work-out partner to film me..

No real candidates, at this stage..

PS

I told her I was drinking 2 cups of OJ and 35g of protein for a post WO shake..

She said I shouldn't be doing insulin releasing shakes like this at night, as it leads to fat gain, unless I burn it off..

Don't I WANT an insulin release after a WO?

Granted, I'd rather work out earlier in the day, but if I can't help but work at night..

And if I burn at least as much calories as the shake, I should be ok, right?

I would be careful with their form tips as well. Alot of the trainers that I've seen encourage half squats because its "easier on the knees" or at least thats what they've been told. This is simply not true.
