Default Cardio Question???

So i just started trying HIIT training on a recumbent bike 3-4 days a week for 15 minutes on an interval setting at a high intensity...i do it mon, wed, fri, and saturday. then sometimes i may run once a week in there as well. I'm doing 300-600 repetitions of ab workouts mon, wed, fri, sat, and sun as well. Do u think that this will help me define my abs and the rest of my body and help get a sixpack?

That's only part of the process. You need a proper diet.

And the diet is 75% of it.

Also, there is no need to do 300-600 reps of abs. You work abs just like any other muscle: once or twice a week with weighted resistance, increasing the weight periodically.

You cannot spot reduce the fat around your mid-section. Basically you need to ingest less calories than you expend. Doing HIIT is a great way to do that as long as you have the proper diet.

Acutally on the ads BradG I am going to have to disagree on the wieghted resistance training for abs. You do jacs and go for reps, make it burn more! It works alot better. Believe me I know from experience!

Abs are a muscle just like any other. They grow with progressive resistance.

"Burning" the abs is like "burning" your bi's. If you are going for muscle endurance, fine. Hypertrophy or strength--nope.

I have never used resistance training on my abs and Im willing to be they are way bigger, cutter, and all around nicer looking then yours! Even the Great Arnold says the same thing I do about abs! Not all muscles are the same. A great bodybuilder would know that

Sorry, your Majesty. I didn't know you were a great bodybuilder. My apologies.

(But doing a million crunches doest cut the abs. Diet does.)

Now that's scientific! And here I thought my own abs were pretty good. I guess they're not. I'll stop using resistance immediately and do nothing but jacs. How many reps should I work my way up to? And how quickly should I do them? I'm thinking 4 or 5 reps a second is something to shoot for. I mean, I want to be efficient here. I still remember the days when I used to do 600 to 700 roman chairs and barely even feel it.

So much for maintaining my abs. What if I want to develop them more?
Perhaps I'll add more exercises. I'll need variability if I want them to grow. More sets. I have nothing but time. I'll work them every day, twice a day.

Wow. It was a lot easier when I just added a little weight here and there.
