Whats funny is Boyle is only talking about the ongoing evolution of his training philosophy. Small effective changes made over time.

I wonder if those same critics would be eating up Chad Waterbury's "workout of the month" saying: This is JUST what I've been waiting for!

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Beware of systems or organizations with "cult-like" followings. We know the kind of people who are vulnerable to cults, right?

That is not to say that we all haven't latched on to this or that which has worked great for us at a certain time. But when someone continues to push the same thing as the be all and end all for years on end without any informational backup...well, need I say more?

Eric Cressey just linked this NY Times article in his blog:

Stretching: The Truth

He rightfully pointed out that the mainstream media lags way behind the industry "insiders" like himself. He and Mike Robertson and others like them were teaching this stuff at least 3 or 4 years ago.

But (and as I commented in his blog) what is really sad to me is that the NY Times is WELL ahead of the majority of fitness "sources" and definitely of the average personal trainer.

When a NY Times article is more up-to-date than your favorite guru...time to get a new guru.

There's Nothing New Here...MR Blog

The oft-encountered flip side to what Mike Boyle was saying.
