Default Eat To Gain, Then Train?

I've been thinking about something......I'm 135 lbs. right now, and I'm trying to get alot bigger. I also want to work out, to get into shape. BUT, my fear is that if I work out, and try to eat to gain weight all at the same time, that the working out will will get rid of anything that I gain from the food I eat. Sooo.....should I spend some time just focusing on a good diet that will help me gain weight, then worry about workout's? Or do them both at the same time?

dont worry about it, just start lifting and eat ALOT. but not real fatty stuff like a stick of butter. you want atleast 150 grams of protien. eat shakes or something before and after your lift. you only really want to gain muscle right? you dont wanna be a fat bastard like me do you? if you eat alot more and dont work out, all that energy will turn to fat, which doesn't help you get jacked.

lol True, I don't want to be just fat. I guess I'm just nervous that if I start trying to build muscle right now, that I'll be muscular.....but that I'll still be the same size, know what I mean? But I still understand what you mean, and I'm going to take that advice into consideration, thanks!

Working out is what breaks down the muscle. Eating and rest is what builds the muscle. Just eating a lot and not working out can make you fat. And I know a good bit about being fat. I put on muscle easily, but I also can get fat easily. Being fat sucks.

Yeah, you can do some cardio to get in shape, in addition to working out to gain muscle. In fact, you should do some cardio so that you are in good shape. You could take maybe 2 days out of the week when you aren't lifting and go jogging, ride a bike or something.

You just want to make sure you have enough extra calories, so that you can gain weight.

Working out will stimulate your muscles to grow, but your diet needs to be in place for your body to grow. I recommend the "How to Bulk" sticky in the nutrition forum which should help. Remember, in order to grow you need to lift as well as EAT ALOT!!!
