You can keep the 5x5. Up the weight or changes the exercises around.

well, everyone says stick with 5x5 so thats what i'll do. How could i turn down advice from 0311..lol..i'll add a lift or two here and there seeing how i feel, but also had some bad stuff happen today. i wanted to ask your guys advice. Today i started back on the 5x5 after about 1 1/2 week off roughly 10 days, something happened on my bench and i hurt my shoulder. I dont know how bad, i know i couldn't finish my bench, i still did JS Rows, barbell curls, and abs easy but im worried about wednesdays shoulder press, and fridays bench. it hurts around the front head of my shoulder, mostly when i raise my arm foward or sideways. What would you guys recommend, the gym is my life and im pretty scared....I hope its not rotator cuff, i heard those are pretty bad, does anyone know anything about that, how i would know, or how long recovery takes...well thanks for the advice, i guess for now im out on bench and shoulder presses :( :( AAARRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Go get checked out. Better safe than sorry when working with an injury (trust me I have had my share!!) Good luck :weights:

That damn 5x5 and injuries!! LOL. Same thing happened to me while on it , don't go long without having it checked out.

well i'll try, im deployed in Afghan-shitty-stan right now, we got a hospital here, doubt its the best, maybe i can get some anti inflammatory meds or something though, im praying its not to bad, worst case my shoulders and chest dont get too much attention, think i could still lift lightly on it?? im really getting my chest filled out where i want it, i'd hate to lose it, im just coming of a two month set back from a broken jaw, all this hard work and these stupid things happened, wish my body was invincable..ha ha ha...i guess thats why i stay in the gym though.....

Just keep your head up. Sounds like your attitude is good. This shit happens to everyyyone. If you want to keep working out the chest/shoulders, then just be careful. It's your decision...no one can really decide for you if you're able or not able to lift. Just keep in mind that you can easily make the injury worse. And the longer you lift on it, the longer it will take to heal. If you do lift, then go light for a while. And be careful with those anti inflammatory meds...NSAIDs inhibit muscle growth from what I understand. They can cover up the message that your body is trying to tell you also. If it hurts like hell, then that's your body's way of telling you not to use your shoulder. But like I said, it depends on how you feel...whether it's very bad or not.

sorry to hear bout your shoulder man as everyone else has said keep your chin up and hopefully everything is fine and it was just a twinge.

thanks for all the help, its been about a week the shoulder is feeling a little better, i still cant put serious weight on it, but i can do light weights to keep it tight, and i can still squat and dead, so there are two of my big three. The docs didnt really do shit, they are just doing some thing that shocks it everyday, they are talking about a Cordazone shot or somthing, anyone know anything about that???

I would be very careful of a Cortisone shot. It will help with the pain and you will feel great; however, it does not actually cure a damn thing. All it does is mask the pain so you can continue. This is very dangerous as you can do more damage to the shoulder without feeling it until much later. Take care of yourself. :weights:
