Default First time "cutting"

I am 40 years old and I am finishing up my first cycle of test Prop and Cyp. I have about three weeks to go and my dosages are around 300mg of cyp...down to 200 over the next three weeks with one injection every 5 days. I will begin PCT with Clomid and Nolvadex two weeks after my last dosage, and I plan to begin a cutting phase around the beginning of April. My question is, how hardcore should I go on cardio? My plan was to get into an alternating routine of cardio/abs on one day and lifting on the other with one or two days off per week. I plan to do 45 minutes to one hour on the eliptical or treadmill on my cardio days. I am also going to adjust my diet to more fish and chicken. I am not planning to compete. I just want to look good for the beach. I am currently 6'4 275lbs. My highest point in my cycle I was up to 293 but have settled into the 275-280 range for the last month or more. Any suggestions? I am very happy with my current appearance. I have great size and definition, but its time to get the abdominals popping and getting the veins to pop even more than they are.

Of course when you are looking to cut you always want to get stricter with the diet. Then you want to make sure you do lower weights with higher reps, less time in between sets, and get it Popping with the cardio!

It comes down to you have to be in a deficit of calories one way or another. You can do it by either:

1) Eating less

or

2) Forcing your body to burn more calories (ie cardio/physical activity)

I think doing cardio to create the deficit is probably the healthier way about it. You work out your cardiovascular system and you are able to eat more, take in more good nutrients, keep a better balanced diet. However, you don't want your cardio to interfere with your weight training either...

So I would say do as much cardio as you can without it affecting your weight routine. Adjust the rest of your deficit needs with diet adjustments.

Your plan sounds good if your diet is in order. You may want to consider interval training (HIIT) for your cardio.

x3 on the interval training. I typically do it on the elliptical with the arm things so you can really jack up the resistance. One minute high resistance so you HAVE to use your arms to make the thing move, and one minute low resistance to recover. Its a great way to do cardio.
