Full is better for knees but half is better for legs. So I like to use the middle ground approach and do quarter squats, that way I get the best of both worlds.

EDIT:This advice is not serious.

I think they both have there place . You will be able to lift more weight with half or partial squats.

I was listening to a pod cast about this today - the one guy is almost 6'6 and he says that partial squats are better for taller guys or atleast for him. ( now I have to go back and listen to his reason why )

Just like anything - EVERYTHING has it's place.

Wouldn't the middle ground be three quarter squats instead of quarter squats?

For me, I'd want to know if you can squat correctly in the first place. All this half or full talk...basic technique (sans powerlifting tweaks) is the same. A bad half squat or a bad "full" squat can be bad for you knees. But I've seen very few who can do a FULL squat in a healthy way right off the bat. So it can be a bit of a moot question.

For general advice when starting out I'd go as deep as you can with a set back, etc...and save other half squats for later down the road.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

I think the middle is parallel , no ?

Regardless - My squat strength starting going higher when I was doing A2G squats . Then again when I switched it to the Box Squat. So I think I person should be doing all kinds.
