Ballistic and dynamic stretching are commonly confused. They are not the same. Dynamic uses controlled movements to slowly build up to the full range of motion. Ballistic is just like the name implies, fast, bouncy movements. Probably to be avoided except for the super advanced person.

I can't see how the joint warm-up thing would be a bad thing, you know? It all just depends on how much time you want to invest in warmup. I usually do some loosening up things but It's nothing very organized. The cardio portion of you warmup, especially if it is something with a good range of motion should loosen up the joints also.

Some of the warmup stuff, imo, depends on what your "readiness" needs are. If you are a person who requires their body to go from 0 to 60 with little warning, then an elaborate warmup may not be the best idea. But for everyone else....

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
