The hands just start hurting after a while. After my squats I am sure glad when the deadlifts are over.

I use gloves, biking gloves that is, but they don't help alot. Guess I just need some plain hand training.

Well if it was just callaces that were getting in the way then gloves would make it hurt less. If its actual like pain in your finger joints though then gloves probably won't help at all.

Try carrying 2- 45 lbs. dumb bells 25 yards up then 25 yards back till you cant carry them no more.

they may just hurt or do you fail on deadlifts?

if they just hurt generally, then its pretty ok because you'll get over the DOMS after you eat good food.

if its your grip failing, then we probably need to examine your program to see how often your grip comes into effect.

here is a site that you can look around. they have some stuff for grip strength and hand health. i havent read any of their books but i know their grip products are good.

http://74.205.126.46/ironmind/opencm...andhealth.html

and I have this
http://www6.mailordercentral.com/iro...sp?number=1254

it helps with grip strength. and the grip isnt smooth. it is like really rugged so it will toughen up your hands.

i have never wore gloves except once and they actually ripped skin off my hands. my hands never hurt either so the only thing i can tell you is that in due time it will get better. IMHO i say stick to just your bare hands. just dont bite off more than you can chew. your hands will adapt. and if you are worried about them getting rough justwash your hands immediatly after lifting and put lotion on them.
