Ironmind's a great site for info.

But we still don't know the nature of this pain...does the skin hurt or do your hands "ache". If your hands ache right off the bat that is not any sort of DOMS. You have to not overdo it because overworking the tendons in the hands will shut you down.

On grip work it is important to recognize that the specific work should fit the goals. There is a difference between becoming a grip master and just wanting to hold onto your deadlifts, pullups, etc....

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

I appreciate the reponses guys.

The ache is the hand in general and I believe it comes plain and simple from the lifting (the grip) itself.

I think I never realized it before because just recently I changed my routine to squads and deadlifts, after reading this site. Before I was dealing with lighter weights, so the "hand ache" didn't come into play.

Like Monstaface said, I just have to toughen up.

dont get me wrong though. "toughen up" doesnt mean hurt yourself. if you have to start off with lighter weight and work yoru way up even if you feel as tohough you can lift more. do some grip work and other things and you should be cool eventually. but dont overdo it. do what you can handle and then take it one step at a time from there. and if you have to use gloves use them. i just dont like them and i can say i dont use them because my hands donto hurt. try some different things and do what works best for you
