Default Help with legs please squats and leg press

Ok im I think i am doing something wrong. When I squat I feel absolutly nothing untill I get upward 300lb. I do weight 325lb my self but im not sure I am doing it right. Also I have a prohibitor, back problems run in my family, narrow spine, so along with that i have a weak core. I really cant do much more then 400 because of this. First is this common for people not to feel muscle reaction in their legs untill that kind of weight? Also how can I strenthen my core so that I can reach weights higher.

Now also in leg press there is no core problems so I can get alot more weights on there, like today I did 800lbx8<<dehydration kicked in and I couldnt go anymore. But anyways I know leg press doesnt replace squats but i was wondering if with added exercises could it do the same??? And if so what other lifts would this be.

also another question off subject would Novedex XT be best used during cycle or off cycle? just wondering

P.S. I think this is the right section just picked one that looked right.

.
yes this is common. it's called lifting to your potential. If you can lift 325, then doing sets of 135 isn't going to do crap unless you're doing sets of 20, but then you're working in the lactic acid realm. For the core, any and all ab work, hyper extensions for the lower back, I find lunges are very useful, and some of the exercises that you can do seated you should do standing a big one is standing shoulder press.

You know it seems to me that once you can squat 400 you have a strong core. Not to say you don't want it stronger but that's not exactly sissy weight for most. The only reason why that would not already have helped build you a strong core is if you don't go very low.

So my questions would be how low do you go and what have you done to try and get past this weight limit?

Edit* I keep coming back to this to make myself more clear. You say you need 325 to feel it in your legs and 400 is your upper limit. It would stand to reason the if you did 325 for 7 or 8 reps that would be a maximal effort and you should certainly feel it. Likewise if you did 300 for around 10 you should feel that. For you not to feel 325 in your legs at any appreciable reps your upper limit should be MUCH higher. The only thing I could thing that could break this down is if your range of motion is very shallow.

Or you legs are very much strong compared to your core musculature. In my experience though squats and things like leg presses are different enough that it's not going to happen like that very often. However, if it is the case that you have that kind of imbalance that your legs don't feel anything while your form breaks down because of a weak core then one thing I would wholeheartedly recommend is all sorts of one-legged squat varitions. Preferably ones that have a loaded barbell on your back. They will help stregthen you core, especially because of the imbalance of one leg while keeping you at a weight your core can benefit from while still overloading your legs. This will have much more benefit than legg presses and probably any assistance. Although of course you should do abs and hypers are a great idea, as Dave mentioned. He also mentioned lunges which is great but also step ups, and bulgarian split squats.

I go as low as my legs will let me... under 90 degrees, i am big so when my thigh touches my calf..
The weight limit is not on my legs you see, it is my core, as I said I do have a family history of back problems which of course i got blessed with. So breaking this in terms of me is being able to do more weight with out bending my back.

um I do use cycle loosely, but I am going to do a 4 week run of promagon 25 with cee, and liver support, post cycle(after i finish bottle) ptc, was wondering if anobolic extremes ptc was enough.
And with nov xt wanted to know if that was good while taking promagon 25 and after or just after to balance levels or t.

sorry if that was confusing still alittle jittery from the gym

Well bro nobody does more weight by bending their back. I understand that you have a weak back and all that but everyone has to increase their squat while maintaining correct form so I'm not sure I understand what is different there. In any case what I said would help you. I take it good mornings are out?

You still didn't say what you've done to try and increase it. I'm trying to offer options but all i'm getting is what you can't do. It's time to dwell on what you can do.

Aight, dont know what good mornings are, I am not limited of doing anything really may not be able to put up 1000 lb to start but my back doesnt limit what i can do just how much.
and really its not that i just lose form, like when the weights to high and you use you back, idk really its kinda hard to explain. Is there a trick to keep your back from going forward??? maybe that might help idk willing to try w/e

Ok but this is another big question along with leg press can squat be replaced??

Well know there is no replacement for the squat. Nothing really equals it.

I think I may be getting the picture here. I'm not really sure. I think your dealing with body mechanics. I would try the goodmorning like I mentioned and also romanian deadlifits. If your legs are kinda short compared to your torso then your back kinda becomes the weak link so strengthening the lower back could help. But there are so many different combinations it's hard to say. Obviously you need to keep the ab work up with the back work. Is your back really long compared to your legs do you think?

if so you need to concentrate on keeping a very tight arch in your back. That's how you will stay upright as possible. You let that arch relax and the back being a longer lever, so to speak, it overwhelms the lumbar erectors and you pitch forward. The exercises I mentioned and any other lower back strengtheners are going to help with this. If this is the case don't worry about the hams and glutes just the lower back.

And examine your form and stance. Are you sure the stance you use is the best for you? Could you benefit from a closer or wider one? Your ability to stay "upright" could be influenced by this. Where do you set the bar? May not be in the best position for you. There is a "how to squat" article in the training articles section that may give you things to look for.
