any free weights for a home gym are a thousand times better than total gym/bowflex/all that crap. stick with a flat bench and some dumbells

BRW, Jayz, I think most of us if we say "rack" or "squat rack" we mean something with safety spotters and all the kind of thing that has been pictured in this thread. But just in case there is any confusion these are commonly reffered to as "power racks". Whereas a "squat rack" could just simply be two upright supports for holding the bar to get underneath.

I would love to have the space at home to have a personal gym. I would definitely start with a good power rack. So many options. Good luck.
