I didn't think you were referring to my post, but I thought I would speak to it just in case.

Now that may be different no but I dont care about mass as much as strength anymore and training for strength and getting the look that comes from it is too damn fun!
I was actually looking back at the handful of programs I've done and I'd say I've gotten the most bang for my buck doing 5x5/1x5 based programs. OVT and HST gave good mass results but thats about it. DF 5x5 and DFHT have given me the best results strength AND mass wise IMO and they have a big "strength" component (DF's Intensity Phase and DFHT's 'ME' Days).

Well, if someone were to follow this way of training from the ground up....say they started with Rippletoe's Starting Strength as a beginner then they went to intermediate programs based on weekly progression and when they couldn't do that anymore they went to longer loading periods:

The Starting Strength "program" should be the greatest strength gains they will ever achieve in one program. Likewise a beginner/intermediate like the one everyone does here should be the second most succesful. If your training is progressive in that way and one phase builds on another than as you go along, IF your really do it correctly, absolute strenght "gains" are going to get smaller. Your are simply getting closer to your top ability and so it gets harder and harder to progress.

ALL of these programs are uniquely qualified to give a person mass and strength but they have to be viewed as a process. If one program seems to be more successful than another it is NOT the program it's the user. Behavior. Loading to aggresively. Starting too heavy. You name it. Not one of these programs is in any way superior to any other. That is not the way it works. If your say one is better than you have to ask: Better for who?

This is the number one thing that I personally what people to see when they get into this. Always use the simplest way available. Always. Don't get into more complicated programming until it is necessary, and then only complicate it to the point necessary. If your skip to more complicated means too early then you are slowing down your gains.

I just want to make this clear because this is so many people's down fall, mine included when I started, looking for the 'best' or 'superior' program, leading them to complicated messes.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

After doing some research on different methods of lifting with muscle mass/hypertrophy as the ultimate goal, it seems like a good idea to give HST a try. Being that I'm still a beginner
I may be a day late and a dollar short, but if your a "beginner" without a good strength base, you shouldnt be doing HST. Just my opinion, but I think it would be benificial to you to make some serious strength gains before doing a program that is aimed at hypertrophy.
