What set me off was having all the sets to failure and going from 20 reps to 4 reps to 10 reps...but mostly the fact that it was advice given to a beginner. Hence my post about it being rediculous for the OP

i dont think there is anything wrong with failure per se (it isnt the best idea for a beginner though) and going from 20 reps to 4 reps has its place. i did high volume deads and then a peak set afterwards when i was recovering from my injury. i use failure all the time....like when i do pull-ups for example.

^^But in context with the OP...He's looking for size and strength, not recovering from an injury. And pull-ups is one thing, but the advice given was for 'no matter what you're doing'.

I want to be clear. I'm not trying to shit on you Anuj, nor am I trying to say that what was posted is bs in general...I'm saying my posts should be left within the context of this thread and only this thread. That being said, had this scheme been put in as advice for someone recovering from an injury, like you mentioned, then I would say its alright. If it had not blanketed all exercises and had been specific with the exercises (pull-ups as you mentioned), again I might have said it was ok.

I'm still gonna stick with my guns and say that in this context its useless advice.

Thanks for the clarifications. That is all I was looking for

BTW, I actually didn't notice the 20 rep part.
