Question I love rusted Iron... and I can't stand shiny chrome... am I wierd?

When I enter the weight room... and the squat racks are lined up to kick my ass, I find myself getting stoked for the rack that's beat the f_ck up. I almost feel that the Oly bar is only happy when it's rusty... and arched across my back with rusted plates on each end.

Now... next to my chosen squat rack is a row of brand new, shiny, enamel painted racks, with a sparkling, shiny, chrome Oly bar, sitting on top. I shun those racks like a pair of parachute pants and a red leather Michael Jackson zipper-jacket from 1984! There's just something lost with shiny chrome and it's lack of hard earned rust. Sparkly, sterile racks always leave me feeling like something was missing from my workout... like I didn't earn the right to wear that rusty badge that says I just kicked my own ass... HARD!

I don't know what it is about old-iron that fires me up. Maybe it's the brown rust-residue that graces my calloused hands after a hard workout. The very same residue that's painted across the upper-back of my white Hanes T-shirt. You know what I mean? I just dig that rusty, sweaty feeling I get after a deliciously painful session in an old beat-up squat rack.

Does anyone else dig this... or am I a freakin Wierdo?

Lol no rusty racks at my gym but I see what I can understand what you're saying... Nothing better then rusted cast iron plates.

I like both.
Rusty because it's like an old pair of shoes. just feels right.
New because I'll be the first to "break" it....... in.

It'd be sweet if the racks had "high scores" on them. hahaha

"New High score!"

"What does that mean? Did I break it?!"
