Default an irritating situation

This has finally put me over the edge, every time i lift upper body my right side get more workout than my left.

i dont understand it at all. why would this happen?

ie: when i do bicep curls, no matter how much or how little, my right arm get way more tight (for lack of a better word) than my left. same with shoulders and chest.

keep in mind, 85% of my upper body workouts are done with dumbells. any input/suggestions?

I am right handed.

Do you do any barbell work? I would reccomend a combinatino of dumbell and barbell work. If you are imbalanced then bb work can really help with that.

Do you do extra reps with the side that can do more? You shouldn't.

If you use a light weight and focus (mentally) mostly on your weak side, can you feel the activation? I went through the same thing a while ago.

The language of the question confuses me. There is a difference between "getting" more work and doing more work. And then the thing about tightness which I guess is about the pump. It seems a very subjective way of looking at this which is what confuses me.

Similarly the wording "no matter how much or how little" isn't telling me much.

The straightforward question is whether one arm is significantly weaker than the other. Is absolute strength less? Is endurance less...i.e. number of reps you can do with a certain weight.

What I'm getting at is whether the PERFORMANCE of each arm is different or just the outward response of each arm, such as transient hypertrophy (pump)?

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

I like to use the fancy phrases sometimes

Oh, another thing we forogt to bring up is form. You gotta try to be as strict as possible so that you are not using cheating movements in a weaker side to make up..becasue cheating means LESS muscular work being done. This shouldn't be as much of an issue with the barbell but with dumbells it is very easy to fall into a habit of tweaking the movement a bit on the weaker side without realizing it.
