Default Major Muscle groups twice a week, and some other questions

Hello everyone. Im looking for others veiws on how to work the major muscle groups (legs, shoulders, back) twice a week with being able to hit some of the smaller muscle groups in also. I can always get a second day of chest in at home with doing push ups. I have just started lifting weights again because I now have every day access to a gym. I currently try to get muscles worked twice a week by doign a couple sets of an excersize or to on a rest day for example doing some lat pull downs and a couple of rows on a chest and arms day. does anyone have good suggestions. should i go to 5 days a week of lifting.

Also, this may not be the place for this question but i am trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. I am currently 5'7 285. I have lfted on and off for a while so I am not a fat blob, but I am not in tip top shape. A good in shape weight for me is 270 but I am trying to get down to 260 or 250, depending on how i feel when i get there. with all this being said, from reading I see that they say it is good to get 1 to 2 grams of protein per pound. Is this healthy? I will be consuming 3 to 400 of protein per day. i find myself with eating 3 meals and 2 protein shakes takign in around 200. is getting 200 grams of protein a day enough? My goals are to drop 25-30 pounds. bench pressing 225 40 to 50 times and gettign my legs and things of that nature back up to par due to recovery from reactive arthritis.

I know this is a lot, and i have an idea on what and what not to do, but pthers views always help. Sorry the the super long question, and if i left anything out for anyone how wanst to reply feel free to let me know thanks

Are you really 5'7?? or 6'7? I'm asking because of your weight holy nut if your 5'7 at 280 your a big boy, and if your not out of shape you must be ripped as hell. But then again you said you only bench 225 and your 280lb, thats pretty weak no offense but i'm 5'8 at 170lb tops and i bench 225.

If you say your 280lb then no 200g of protien is not enough. eat at least 300g or more.

40 to 50 reps at 225? Thats a hell of a goal brother.. You must be a beast... Screw dropping weight you should power lift man.. Holy hell.... And doing pull ups at 270 thats freaking insane man... I have to bust ass to pull 200 up there 8 times for 3 sets. If I strapped on 70 I'd get no where. Keep doing what your doing man!

no offense taking, just wanted to get it straight. an di think 225 40 to 50 times is acheivable. i kn ow i can get it around 25 times now without even being able to be in the gym, and i am workgin on slowely but surely getting into power lifting, but i am recovering from reactive arthritis. my body is just about cool now but i just have a problem or 2 with my right knee, so not to much jumping around with weight just yet. im just now gettin back into jump squats. im just really trying to find a way to work in all my major muscles twice a week, and know what is the least amount of protein i can eat a day. im not into supplements or anything so a protein shake is as far as i go

You really do need quite a bit of protein man. At 270 you really need well over 300g cuz I'm figuring you have quite a bit of muscle mass.. I eat a lot of lean meat chicken especially... As well as 6 scoops of whey a day to get mine and I only take 200 to 250g which is not really enough for me but I'm trying tow squeeze mine into a lower calorie range though. I like cottage cheese a lot too.. Mix it with fruit or sugar free jello, which is my favorite.. You get some casein protein that way too.. I like to eat it later in the evening fills me up so I'm not to hungry when i go to bed... I eat eggs in the morning, whey and chicken throughout the day, and cottage cheese late at night. It's nice to mix in some fish too just to mix it up... I try to eat protein at every meal if I can. You need it all day and night and lots of it...
