morning workout
What is your opinion on morning workouts? Are they are more productive than afternoon workouts? I want to see if i can manage morning workouts, like 5:30 am workouts. I workout in the afternoon, usually around 4 or 5pm, sometimes 1 or 2. Another concern is that how does working out in the morning change how your body recovers during the day, compared to an afternoon workout?

workouts am/pm
I prefer mornings, one because i can get in a complete workout in a shorter time.... less people in the gym in the morning. I feel i recover the same in either a morning or afternoon workout.
Everybody is different try both and see what works for you, I know its not much but hope it helps |
My personal opinion is only cardio in the am,just because you dont have any calories in you after an over night fast(sleep..)-so you will benefit more with the weights if you have more calories in you later on in the day,and doing cardio in the am on an empty stomach will burn fat greater than any other time in the day.

You should recover fine. Just make sure you have a good meal before you lift. That will negate fasting overnight. I found that my intensity was lower in the morning. I just couldn't lift quite as much when I rolled out of bed and ate on the way to the gym. Try it out though. Everyone is different. I liked the empty gym in the morning also.

I love morning workouts. I hit the gym about 5:30 AM. There's usually 3-4 others in there so the the equipment is freed up. People start strolling in around 6:00, but almost done by then.
I mostly do cardio (30-45 min) but have started lifting a little bit too. If I decide to use the workout to lift versus doing cardio, I usually hit a lagging bodypart or a body part I might not have worked adequately. But the best thing is how I feel. When I workout first thing, I feel full of energy the entire day. If I miss it, it's a day of feeling groggy and tired. Strange paradox isn't it. Less sleep + workout = energy throughout the day. More sleep + no workout = tired and groggy. |
