I thought it interesting as I go back to my journals before my pec tear and read the progression and how I just couldn't bare to part with the gym.. If anyone finds themselves thinking like I did, they'll end up like I did! :D

- I was warming up for bench, on my last weight acclimation sets (315x2), and when I lifted the bar of the rest, I felt my pec muscle almost in my armpit pull really bad. Pissed me off bad.. So, I stretched it out and did a set of 5 with 345, strong as hell too, but I still felt that pain every time the bar touched my chest. So, I decided to skip bench pressing because I didn't want that pain turning into something worse. It hurt less doing incline dumbbell. I started off with only 100 for 8 reps very slowly to measure whether or not I could keep going. I ended up being fine and did four sets of 6-10 reps, ending with the 120's for the final two sets of 8 and 6 reps. The pain was only slight after that. It hurt when I picked up the barbell to do the JS Rows too.

- My pec was sore. Holding the weight for power shrugs gave me a slight pain. I can tell that it's just a pulled muscle. Finished shrugs with a triple dropper.

- My pulled pec muscle was aching after the rest/pausing for low inclines. I tried to do the OHP's, but I didn't think it was worth pushing. I skipped the dips for the same reason..Recovery. I also got a super pump in my shoulders, so much so that it was hard for me to keep my arms above my head for pulldowns. Injuries blow.

My second set, about the third rep, I felt a wierd ripping sensation. It wasn't painful whatsoever, and I can describe it like pulling the fat off of chicken when preparing it. My doctor described what happened like this: Picture having 50 rubber bands that are all in line stretched out. Now take a pair of scissors and cut 5 of them. Those cut bands are now balled up. The good news is that since my chest is good to go aside from a piece of my lower chest, over time it'll reconnect and heal.

Yeah you know if you look up data, you'll see one of the prominent signs of overtraining is Compulsive Need to Exercise. And of course chronic overtraining can lead to injury...so there you go.

Yeah, since then I've been deloading faithfully every 5 weeks whether I feel the need or not and I'll tell ya, I pec hasn't come close to being sore since.. All the while flat barbell benchin'! :D

That is crazy to look back and see, and I never seen that pic before, looks like it hurt.

Off topic. I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to get rid of fluid in the knee ? I'm thinking accupunctor.

EricT 08-10-2007 05:48 PM

Are there any other problems? Pain, whatever. That could be injury or something. A joint effussion. It's not normal. I feel like it's something to see a doctor about. Getting rid of the fluid could help it it hurts or is stiff by that may be just treating a symptom, not the cause.

TALO 08-11-2007 07:25 AM

The pain is not too bad, however sometimes it feels like it's right on the muscle above the knee (Left knee, right side muslce) And it's very stiff.I can't fully bend the knee, when I do it hurts on the back side of the knee(right side again)not too sure what the names are. But there is two long (tendions ?? ) right beside each other.
Also when I bend it , I can feel it in the calve and shin..I have gone to the doctor twice , first was the very first day and then about two weeks later. I'm thinking I will go and see him again on Monday to see what he says.

I wish I could describe it better.

Well I don't think it's tendon. It's most likely going to be something internal. Which could mean ligaments or meniscus or both. Hopefully not but you really need a diagnoses. See if the doctor can either pinpoint the injury with the appropriate tests or order an MRI. Sometimes injuries happen in pairs or even triples so that makes it very difficult.

The fluid can be your knee making more fluid as a protective mechanism (run amock) or it can actually be bleeding or both.

And use RICE! Except for compression unless it helps the pain but even then it's a mixed bag.

being in a small town that could take months.....rrrr!!

I take it an orthopedist presents a similar problem.

BTW, here is a cool page with the common knee tests.

http://www.sportsdoc.umn.edu/Clinica...m/lachmans.htm

It step by step with pictures plus vids with normal and symptomatic results. If you were to study them with your wife you could probably do them. And if you look up the individual tests and what they indicate it may help a bit.

Also check this post for some other test plus more info:

There are a couple other articles in here as well.
