Default My 'Routine', Advice?

Howdy, I'm pretty much new to working out, have been doing it or maybe.. 2-3 weeks now (no special routine, just some excercises I know).

At the moment it consists of the following:

http://www4.mmedia.is/cartman/anmi/dumbell_fly[1].swf (I'm unfamiliar with most of the terms so I found some explanation pictures).

I can do a certain weight with these about 50 times in a row without stopping (It's probably not the best way to train but I don't know anything else, I just work it till I can't anymore).

I also do a fair bit of sit-ups, I'm not sure how many I can do but at least a 100 non-stop and it always seems like I can push for 10 more perhaps. I also do another one that strengthens your stomach which would consist of laying on your back and moving your legs straight up in the air and then left/right.

I also do these - http://www4.mmedia.is/cartman/anmi/standingdbcurl[1].swf

Again, maybe 34-40 I manage to do without stopping.

----

My main question being what is the best way to strengthen your arms? (To be able to do more push ups for an example). I can only pull off maybe 20 Push ups in a row then I'm done, and that's a maximum right there. So I was thinking maybe I should do 5 push ups then 7, then 8 or something like that to be able to push further. But yeah would appreciate some advice, thanks!

Your asking two different things here. Strength has to do with a max load. Doing more push ups has to do with muscular endurance.

What is your goal?

Ahh.. Well, both then. I just assumed that the more push ups I could do would have to do with how much weight I could lift. If I had to choose though I'd focus on max load for now.

Then full compound lifts are important here, squats, deadlifts, bench press ect ect...

Uhh.. Care to explain any of these? (I know what Bench press is of course.. I hope). And would it be just lift a certain weight till you can't lift it anymore?

If you want to strengthen your arms and be weak everywhere else, then you'll want to do a bunch of isolation exercises. Curls, triceps push downs, skull crushers, etc... Google the exercises or look for them on youtube. The best way to get better at doing more push ups is by...doing more push ups.

good thing to do with push ups. if thats just really what you need. do approximatly 10 to 15 pushups per set. until you reach 100 the first week. and if that isnt enough each week increase the sets of pushups and the reps per set.

like nomrally when i do pushups i do sets of 20 until i get to 200.

of if you want to just want to do something fun. take a deck of cards. whatever card you flip. thats the amount of pushups you do. all facecards (jack, king, queen) are 15 and aces are 20. just flip and do that amount. wait a little while flip again and do more. keep going until you cant go anymore, then count what you did

I don't know if they didn't work before, but I just clicked on all of them and they all work now.
