Got a foam roller and/or tennis ball? That seems to help me tremendously. Key is whether you're talking tightness or pain.

I do a 1-10 pain rating like doctors have you do. I go ahead and lift at near target weight with a 1 and maybe less with a 2. I do very light with a 3 and shift workout day if higher than 3. When I am experiencing the back pain, I also record the rating about a half hour after the workout and also the following morning. If number gets worse by next day, you know you overdid it.

I thought of this on my own so be careful. I am still looking for medical advice that this is not a bad approach.

BTW, a 10 on my 1 to 10 scale means go to the doctor right now...

its like a 1 on the meter. Its not a pain. Just tight. I think i would be ok with a light work out and only doing 2 sets and not 4 like normal.
Just thought id get some opinions on this though.
Thanks Doo
oh the cool thing is my aunt is basicly a doctor so all i got to do is go see her and i wont get charged.
Got to love that.

I would do something I never take the time to do, ....STRETCH!
Not just a couple of trunk twists, but spend 20 minutes stretching your back and hammies (and anything else you can think of.
Then I would go ahead with BACK but I would focus on lighter weight and higher reps for today. Like the 8 to 15 range. It might be a nice change of pace for you? Better safe than sorry right?

Preacher curls make me have to use my lower back muscles cause of the way i have to do them. Its not a bad tight though. The muscles just feel stimulated.
