Have you read the suggestions of the other people who have posted in this thread?

See....when you come into a thread it is your duty to read what the people above you have said before you decide to type up a reply of your own.

Now, having said this, all your suggestions make sense, but (and if you had taken the time to read what everybody else has said you would know this) doing Splits is very lame for a beginner. Lame meaning: a non-efficient way to go about things.

So while everything you said makes sense (like hammies needing more work, legs being a large muscle group etc etc) it boils down to: Split vs. Full Body or Upper-Lower. And I believe that doing this Upper-Lower fashion are wonderful. Infact, for a beginner, doing a split is useless and highly inefficient.

Haha, well then I'll say it. Read things more thoroughly.

Based on the routine that he posted and the problems with it, it could be inferred that he's a beginner. It's easy to forget that new guys don't know other members' history. I'm not saying that's what happened; I'm just saying....

And the stuff that Wolf just posted made it fairly clear.

It's all good though IMO...just let it go.

So I'm gonna have a problem doing the 20 rep squats, I don't have a spotter to keep me from collapsing with the weight on my shoulders, I may have to replace those with dead-lifts for a bit till I can rig a safety device for squatting. Any objections or suggestions for a replacement?

You could start with not doing 20 rep squats. I can't imagine a worse way to start anyway if you are fairly new to dong them consistently.

Do reps and sets that won't cause you to "collapse".

You could also do single leg stuff. That way you get a great workout but the load is greatly reduced. And you could try front squats which are easier and safer to dump if you get into trouble.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Yeah, I don't think that at this point there is any reason for the thought of collapse to be entering you mind

And if you did actual 20 reppers which are "breathing squats" meaning much heavier than your actual 20 rep maximum..you would be one hurtin puppy. Way overkill.

But it's always best to concentrate of what you can do. And there are many many options. If you don't feel comfortable doing back squats until you get your safety gear in place, don't worry about it. But if you want to do them you should be able to do them fairly safely.
