Default My workout

Ok. I'm mainly looking for mass gains, but strength gains wouldn't hurt

My "routine" is basically the 5x5 with a few modifications.
I noticed the 5x5 routine doesn't have decline press. Is it not needed?

1)
squat 5x5
bench 5x5 flat
tricep pushdown 10x3
dips 10x3
rows 5x5

2)
squat 5x5
military press 5x5
deadlift 5x5
pull up 10x3
hammer curl 5x5

3)
squat 5x5
bench 5x5 incline
? bench 5x5 decline ?
shrugs 10x3
lat pull 10x3

Any advice or info will be greatly appreciated

flat, incline, and decline all work the whole chest...so do whichever one you like most.

ab work?

i think with most 5 x 5's...you're not going to be doing all 5 sets with the same weight...one day you might stagger like for example...bench press:

200 x 5, 210 x 5, 220 x 5, 230 x 5, 240 x 5

and the other day would probably be a light day.

but doing 5 x 5 with all the same weight for every exercise every day is gonna be painful

I've always read that ab work isn't really needed, if you have a low bf% your abs will show. So on my off days I do cardio to try and get some fat off

ab work is very much needed....since they do help protect your lower back from injury.

No need to add exercises to that routine, looks solid enough. And ab work is really up to the individual, although it's always a good idea to do throw some crunches in there.

You won't be doing that for long.

How do you plan to progress that?

What about any of the things Pity said?

Look into the bill starr power routine or the texas method. Something like that. That will give you more like what pity described to you.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

^^^ That is why I stopped typing

No, but in all seriousness, I think that OP's who don't listen to posters are disrespecting the forum by asking pointless questions whose answers they do not want to know.

You are partly correct. They are not needed to get the abs to show, lowering your bf% as you said will reveal the 6 pack that everybody has. However, ab exercises are not meant to help your abs show they are meant to increase their function. Having a strong core is a must for any big compound lift. Remember there is no such thing as spot reduction, so working your abs with crunches and sit ups is not gonna burn the fat around your abs. Your body decides where to take the fat from.
