Heavy compound lifts are the key to getting big, as everyone said. Bench Press, Press, Deadlift, Squat.

Those are the core lifts that enable to lift the most amount of weight using the most amount of muscle. Everything else done in the gym should be done with the intent of getting those lifts up, when doing them just by themselves is no longer productive.
