Default need to mix up my training schedule

i've been doing the same workout for a while now. i usually switch things up a little bit(different exercises, go from bar to dumbells) to try to stop from plateauing, but now i'm trying to make a more serious approach towards it. how long do you guys generally cycle workouts (how long before you change it up). about how many weeks? and what do yall do to change it? just change around some exercises or do a totally different workout.
