my life has turned into hell overnight and i need a two or three day a week training routine DESPERATELY..
You don't need to make excuses.. I was betting you'd want another routine within 3 weeks of starting your last one. So far you've already switched routines more times since you started a journal in 12/27 than I've done in a year!

Quote:
Workout #1

1.) Barbell A2G Squats 3x5

2.) Barbell Bench Press 3x5

3.) Weighted Chin-Ups 3x5

4.) Weighted Parallel Bar Dips 3x5

5.) Standing Barbell Curls 5x5 superset with Dumbbell Alternate Arm Standing Curls 5x5
Why are your arms getting the most attention? If you are interested in olympic lifting/powerlifting, the big three gets most of the attention. At least, you don't need to do exactly squats, deads, ect, but I know Westside at least makes you focus on a lift that is very similiar every few weeks. So, three weeks has you doing squatting, the next few has you doing goodmornings, ect..

It's not rocket science. For a strength routine, your arms need maybe 3 sets of 8-12 reps. Other than that, the focus remains on the big three or similiar movement.

1. Why 3 sets of 5 for everything?
2. Why 1 set of 5 for deadlifts of all things??

where do you think i'll be when i'm done with this routine (in like 6-8 weeks)..? i'm referring to strength, flexibility, bulk, cuts, you know: the works
I guarantee you won't make it to 6-8 weeks so that question doesn't need to be addressed. However, miracles do in fact happen so if you make it, you'll likely increase some strength...Maybe some hypertrophy, but that would only benefit you if you really eat.

I don't buy it...I know I've had a couple times where school is overwhelming, usually for 2 weeks or less. I highly doubt it warrants a routine change, especially since your routine changes make less and less sense. You're bouncing between mass and strength programs. If you get down to business and don't take the time to wink at all the pussy in the gym then any OVT workout is around an hour. If you're having this much trouble with time management now...wait til you get to college

Well, if that is the case, what has it to do with another shift in goals?

I've told you before that I think you like the "look" of programs. Here's the question: Do you want to bodybuild or do you want to be continually be excited about beginning a new program only to abandon it when you read another article?

I have a hard time imagine not being able to choose between strength training and bodybuilding in the first place, in so far as we are speaking of two different goals. Of course they are not mutually exclusive, but most people have a long term goal of one or the other.

I have to wonder, Anuj, if this is really about achieving a fitness goal at all, or are you looking for something else?

Here are some ideas about why someone might get into bodybuilding or strength training OTHER than to improve their body (or just personal satisfaction). Ask yourself if one applies to you.

1. Seaking a sense of identity or belonging. Looking to be a part of an exclusive "lifestyle club" and the easy definitions that entails.

2. You just like being at the gym and winking at pussy.

3. Wanting to be percieved as a "guru" because of your knowledge and experience and so having knowledge and experience as your goal rather than long term results (I know this doesn't make sense, that's the point).

4. Want to try out lots of different programs so that you can post stuff on bodybuilding boards and have them made "stickys".

.

Look, the bottom line is that a program is not something you try on like a pair of pants to see how it looks. And it is not always something you like for the sake of the program, but for the results. It is not always fun, it is not always interesting. If it was then it wouldn't be called "working" out.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

i'm not making excuses...

this is the truth:

i have a gpa of 3.6... now my parents believe that if i can get 3.6, then its possible for me to get 3.8... therefore, all i need to do is work hard... now, how can i work hard if i go to the gym so often..? i cant (according to them)... therefore, i'm no longer allowed to go to the gym... at first it was only twice a week.. now today i find out that they're NEVER gonna let me go till my exams get over (end of may)...

i know what your gonna say: what shit....! how can they do that...? well, they can.. i normally dont ever listen to them... but i dont feel like fighting this battle... its not worth it... come may i'll do what i want, and come august i'll be studying the states...

now, dont get me wrong, i do love my parents.. but this is a nightmare.. and no, i'm not happy about it...

so cancel the idea of going to workout period...

all i'll do now is probably 100+ push-ups, 100+ chins, 100+ squats and 100+ crunches..

this shit isnt my fault... and truth be told, i was going to continue ovt for the full 8 weeks... until this shit happened...

so i'm not lying... i know i said that ol + pl is good, but i love ovt coz of the results... unfortunately though, i no longer can workout...

this sucks..

i'm keeping cool coz i'm listening to hal urban right now... otherwise i'd be going ballistic...

hope you understand...

oh, and i'll still maintain my journal... even if all i go is push-ups and pull-ups and free hand squats and lunges and crunches

another point which i would like to add is this, although i keep saying i'm on a bulking rouitne, i'm not really on that... see, i'm losing fat and getting nice definition all over, and at the same time, my weight is slowly increasing...

but more importantly, the reason why my parents are saying no working out is because i'm very very tired when i return home from the gym as result of which i'm not able to do my work with 100% efficiency...

i hope i've answered all your doubts...

hopefully, this should be over in like a week and i'll try to get back into training, but thats a long shot
